Dreaming.

I used to dream that life would go
Just like the fairytales we're told
I waited, filled with trust and hope
For life to gradually unfold.

I used to dream, in the innocence
Of a bright-eyed, raptured child
Yet to walk through paths of thorns
That she's destined to meet in the wild.

I used to dream a whimsical dream
That broken puppets one day can dance
That their strings don't matter at all
(Oh, now I know they have no chance.)

But now I haven't dreamt in years
Only shadowed forms and echoed screams
Fill my mind -- it's my punishment
For dreaming impossible dreams.

Soaking up Avril Lavigne's Losing Grip.
