school is out!

After fifteen gruelling weeks of school, I'm finally free!

Once the TWC exam was over, a bunch of us decided to hang out for awhile at Bugis to grab drinks, desserts and generally unwind from everything. Well, a very huge risk was taken yesterday - Lek actually let Eileen drive his car! He even offered to let ME drive! Which is really quite a big act of courage on his part, considering I'm probably crazy enough to attempt driving in broad daylight, around town and Bugis where traffic is crazy. Oh, and did I mention that I don't have a driving license? Not even a basic theory thingy. I suspect he was too overwhelmed by his joy from the exams being finally over, actually. Ah well.

So, Eileen took the car out of the carpark, onto the road dividing the business and accounting blocks, before deciding that she didn't dare to drive all the way to Bugis. She promptly hopped out and onto Euren's scooter instead - in a short skirt. I have absolutely no idea how she managed to climb on behind him, stay on the bike and all in her miniskirt, seriously.

I chose the safe option - I'll take a car over a bike anyday. Miniskirts and motorcyles really do not go hand-in-hand!

After that, went off for dinner at some new-fangled Jap-food place that just opened recently at Serene Centre. Actually, it was really not bad. Strangely enough, Japanese food always appeals to me, so...thank you for the dinner treat. :)

Later on in the night, just as I hit home and was about to go shower and fall asleep, Derrick called - the boy's finally back from Down Under. Lex drove over to get me, and then we all ran over to Wisma Indochine for a round of drinks.

Also, he had the foresight to bring home some boxes of Krispy Kremes! Serious donut lovin' - I couldn't stop popping one after another into my mouth.

Somehow or another, Lex suddenly felt like watching a movie, so we trooped over to the new Cathay cinema to watch Casino Royale - just about time! After being cooped up in SMU with our projects and exams and all (Lex & I), or stuck in NTU the faraway land (Pam), or stuck even further away in Australia partying too damn hard to watch movies (Derrick), we finally found time to watch the new Bond movie.

To tell the truth, I quite liked Daniel Craig as the new Bond. Although it still remains somewhat difficult for me to picture James Bond as anybody else but Pierce Brosnan, I thought that Daniel Craig brought a new edge into the character that has all but become almost predictable. I never was a Bond movie fan, since watching one felt as good as I was watching another - but Casino Royale was unique. It explained quite a number of things for the other Bond movies, and though the timeline and certain nittygritty details seemed a little vague and confusing, I'm not picky. It does leave me wondering how successful Daniel Craig will be at playing the polished, smooth Bond that Pierce Brosnan has portrayed for the last few movies, though.

Many have commented that the Bond girls in Casino Royale (Caterina Murino as Solange, and Eva Green as Vesper Lynd) weren't particularly stunning - some complaining that Solange looked too old in the movie, and Vesper was just so-so. I thought they were perfectly okay, but that must be because I wasn't really paying attention to them, but rather to their clothes. Oh my goodness, they had the most gorgeous dresses! The coral satin backless dress that Solange appeared in the night she made out with Bond and all was totally WOW. And Vesper had the nicest dresses too! Now, that's something I'm really jealous of. :(
