rockin' underground.

On Friday night, Rattle and Hum came down from Australia to play at Muddy Murphy's (in Orchard Hotel)! For those not in the know, Rattle and Hum is (apparently) the best U2 tribute band in the world, i.e. the best copycat U2 band. In fact, I can vouch that they sound and look pretty much like the real thing. Some people actually were fooled - someone even asked me how come Bono seemed to have put on weight!

If you're wondering what I was doing at Muddy Murphy's - I was working with Sam for Heineken for the pub's Rockin' Underground night. So much for a theme night though, since both of us were the only ones dressed for the occasion (the band doesn't count, really). However, instead of really being costumed for the rock theme, I turned out looking rather BDSM, and Sam looked a little Broadway in the end. Well, let's just say we had plenty of trouble finding suitable costumes, given the limited selection available in Singapore and the tight budget allocated to the costumes. We were there to take polaroids of and with the crowd, promote the Heineken bucket deal for the night as well as to get the crowd to hang around until Rattle and Hum came on.

Of course, we took a couple of polaroids of ourselves too. :P

There was a painter present at the event as well, offering free tattoo paintings of any design that you choose - that is rock-related, of course. Her name is Lara, and she really is quite talented. Both Sam and I had the Heineken logo (complete with a red star) painted on our hips, and Sam got a really gorgeous guns and roses picture painted on her back lower hip but I unfortunately don't have a picture of it right now. I got a small broken heart painted on my chest, and I quite liked it. :)

We had fun - although there some really sleazy Caucasian guys around who automatically assumed that because they're white, us Asian girls would be falling all over ourselves to get into their pants. Like, oh puh-lease. They ought to take a good look at themselves into the mirror and get a reality check - fat, unattractive, old and balding men they are. Do we look like we'd be interested? Nuh-uh.
