My grandpa was hospitalized yesterday - because of a suspected mild stroke.

Thankfully, he's doing alright. In fact, he really was in quite high-spirits both yesterday and today when I went to visit him. His cheerful demeanour frankly did puzzle me quite a bit until a sudden bout of understanding crashed into me (in bad-car-accident-style). He has constant company by at least one of his children/children-in-law/grandchildren at any one time of the day, the hospital food is decent (he claims it's tasty), and so hospital life is perhaps less lonely and strangely more enjoyable than everyday life. A pang of guilt followed immediately - after all, I'm one of the heartless ones who see very little of him, failing to visit on an even semi-regular basis.

Yes, I am quite ashamed, especially since I'm supposedly the favorite grandkid.

But ah well, seems like with the elderly, all is forgiven and forgotten quite quickly. As long as he's still smiling and healthy and all...then I am extremely thankful.
