humpty dumpty had a great fall
12:44 pm
How ironic, really. Right after I post about 2009's arrival and ooh, let's all await a great year because 2009 will totally kick ass, the year literally does so (albeit in a strange fashion) on new years' day (or night) itself. Well, for those who haven't heard the story in some way or another yet... Basically, we all decided to go out to Union Square to dance on Thursday (New Years' Day!) because we all haven't been out dancing together for such a long time since Jared and Miche were on exchange the previous term, and also because there's free entry at USQ on public holidays. Somewhere towards the end of the night, while sitting on a barstool, I stuck my foot out at Zee in an attempt to poke him with my toe, and he somehow or another decided to lift my other foot off the ground. This is where our versions of the story differ: Zee said he thought I was securely seated on the barstool so lifting my leg off the ground wouldn't have made a difference. Unfortunately, I was perched on the edge of the barstool, so I actually felt like I was yanked off the barstool, which led to a super hard fall. Squarely on my tailbone. The pain was quite immense and I was speechless and motionless for quite awhile, just lying prone on the dancefloor with everyone crowded around me. After the initial shock subsided, I managed to eventually get up and hobble my way down towards Zee's car (the pain remained, sadly) but somewhere along the way my low blood pressure kicked in and went even lower, so I started blacking out. Very painfully. Thankfully, I caught myself in time and did not completely black out, though I grew really nauseous and had to lie down in the passageway between Amara Shopping Centre and Amara Hotel, once again with everyone surrounding me and radiating concern. Eventually, I somehow made my way to the car (with lots of help) and was sent to the A&E Department of Alexandra Hospital. My sister and Zee accompanied me there and waited until Mark arrived to stay with me in the observation ward (since only one person was allowed in to accompany the patient). By this time, the news had travelled really quickly down various grapevines so people started sending me panicky sms'es or calling Mark up to ask what on earth happened and all. It certainly didn't help that we had to wait for hours before the xray was freed up, and had to wait somemore before the doctor found time to bother with me. Basically, I spent almost 4 hours in there, leaving only at about 5am. Nice way to spend New Years' Day, huh? :P Anyhow, the xray showed no fractures or deformities of any kind, and I've been healing up rather nicely the last few days, not even needing my painkillers anymore, so... Despite all the dramatics, all's well that ends well. Except for this nagging pain in the butt that won't go away now. My tailbone has stopped hurting but now my ass is super sore, which makes me wince whenever I walk, so yikes. Labels: poor sick girl |
