Apparently while I was out at dinner last night, another hamster left us. This time it's poor, skinny Pnut who very unfortunately and tragically got into an accident with the hamster wheel, broke her back, and was in so much pain and the vet couldn't do anything about it and so my sister chose to put her to sleep.

I only found out about it when my sister told me this morning so I won't go into the details...but, you can read her account of it.

It's really sad because she left her sister behind - they were from the same litter and we picked the two of them out of the rest because they got along so well and because they were the best in temperament. I was the one who chose Pnut actually, partly because she was the runt of the litter and was always being bullied. :( For the longest time we couldn't tell the two apart, and they were always together anyhow so it didn't really matter as it was sort of like a bundled deal sort of thing. Only when they matured fully then were we able to distinguish them by their markings, and most importantly by size - Walnut was the fat, blubbery one while Pnut was skinnier and more active.
