...because I've been so busy and ill and exhausted, plus also a little tired of uploading backdated New York photos, I will try to wrap it all up asap and so here is a condensed entry full of pictures and not very much more!

Our visit to Jean Georges' one fine day...think Michelin chef!



A salad to whet your appetite.



The main - roast chicken with corn puree (sounds strange but tasted quite nice!).



And my favorite part of the meal - the desserts...Kai's and mine respectively.





We trooped to Union Sq Station and Greenwich Village later on in the day to check out the less urban and more artsy area in New York.



My friend Belinda, who works part-time as the Wendy's model. :P



Gray's Papaya - full of yummy hotdogs and quirky drinks that taste oh-so-good.



And...the Magnolia Bakery! Sex and the City, anyone?



The school that I almost went to instead of SMU, haha. (Why did I not go there again?! Don't worry, I asked myself that countless times while I was there!)



A quick diversion away from the main point of the entry - which is about food, so I can chronologically chronicle this trip here. Here we are, posing for a group picture outside the Big Apple Hostel on the last day of our stay there.



The MoMA (in which I took too many pictures of the awesome works that I will not bother uploading really...and where my slipper decided to break in a very timely fashion, leaving me barefeet in the middle of Manhattan. I trekked across many streets with Kai in search for a footwear shop, which turned out surprisingly difficult to find, and after we finally found one that I procured a pair of slippers to my liking, we had an even harder time looking for a public toilet for me to wash my feet in because they were absolutely filthy by then! New York really ought to do something about its public toilets. It's a nightmare to find one there when you need one because all the toilets are meant for "customers only". Bah! But I guess the experience of walking through Manhattan barefoot is really quite something. And yes, I talk too much in my parentheses, I know.)



With Kai's best friend and new idol, Trekkie Monster from Avenue Q. We won 5 lottery tickets to watch it at a fraction of the original price - front row tickets, too!



Back to the topic of food - we gluttons trekked out to Momofuku for super tasty but way too salty Japanese food.





The kong ba pao there was reaaaaalllllyyyy good though it was so oily and fatty that it was dripping oil all over my plate and the table when I was eating it!



The noodles were tasty but way too salty for my liking though!





After a full meal at Momofuku's, we were all stuffed but we passed by Artichoke, famed for its good and cheap pizzas - we couldn't resist trying a slice out.





Hmm, I wonder how many peach slushees I had altogether in New York?



Another place that you guys should check out should you ever get around to visiting New York...Stardust Diner somewhere along 52nd Street/Broadway if I remember correctly. They fund Broadway-wannabes through their singing, dancing and acting lessons so the waiters and waitresses would suddenly burst out into song in the middle of your meal! Rather entertaining, really.





Ah, and even their menu has some entertainment value of its own.

We went for a week's worth of company visits on the BSM schedule - both big names like Ogilvy, Juilliard, TVWA, HBO as well as smaller and more localized firms like the Deitch Projects. The theme of the NY BSM for this year is New York and the creative economy...speaking of which, I have a paper due next week and I have yet to give it any thought whatsoever. How worrying. Anyhow, I digress. This means that this year's companies are more to do with the creative side (for obvious reasons), like advertising, galleries and all.

On our first day of visits - here we were at the Broadway League!



We had lunch at the Original Soupman. Anybody familiar with Seinfield's Soup Nazi? This is it! The soup was uber yummy - I went there twice in the whole trip. ;)





We passed by Century 21 too...where I bought a lot of bags at a few days later when we returned to the area (for the soup + the shopping).



And this is the depressing sight of Ground Zero.





At Juilliard - seriously an eye-opener. I've never been into an arts school in my life, not even our very own LaSalle or NAFA here in Singapore, so taking a peek at one of the world's most prestigious arts institutions seriously blew my mind away. Too bad we were there in the summer though, so the school was rather empty, if not we could have maybe crashed some of the student practices. That'd have been awesome.





Went to Katz's for dinner too - this is the place where Harry literally met Sally in the said movie. ;)



Check out the awesome meat platter I shared with Lance! Meant to serve three (Americans) but these two puny little Asians did a pretty good job with polishing most of it off anyway I would say.



The next day...we went to Ogilvy! The office is SO pretty and well-decorated. I like! :)





And we had another awesome dinner - this time at Peter Luger's, some super sought-after steakhouse in New York that we tried making reservations for, but found out that it was fully booked all the way to December! We eventually managed to squeeze our way into the place though thanks to Kai, who slipped the guy a small (or not so small) fee. But it was so well worth it! The steak was ridiculously yummy - charred on the outside, cooked nicely in the next layer, bloody and juicy on the inside. Probably the best steak I've ever eaten so far in my life!







After our very full and insanely delicious dinner, we trooped off to the Brooklyn Bridge. It made so much more sense to cross it from Brooklyn to Manhattan at night so you can see the night skyline of Manhattan in its full glory - and oh, what a sight it was to behold!











It was on the bridge that I experienced one of my rare moments of homesickness on this trip (oh trust me, it was extremely rare this time around, so unlike when I was in LA in May). I suppose it was the beautiful sight, coupled with the breeze and general quietness of the place. We may have been on a monumental bridge that overlooks the city and all its bright lights and traffic, but perhaps it was being on an elevated level that made all the difference. The feeling was priceless - in the city, yet not quite a part of it, and feeling more like an observer than really one of the actors in this crazily fast-paced movie that someone with the remote control has decided to play at half-speed. It flickers slowly, frame after frame, leaving your mind with plenty of time to wander home while the rest of you physically soaks up everything else that surrounds you.

As promised, here I am again - to show you all pictures of Central Park! The park really is HUGE - don't know how much exactly we managed to cover in one morning but I'm quite sure there was still lots of it left unexplored. Walking around so much under the scorching sun was seriously no joke, though still lots of fun anyway because I was in the wonderful company of all my silly friends.

Took the subway for the first time ever in New York...the system really does amaze me even though the trains look so heavy, old and backward but hey - it runs 24/7 and gets us to places really fast so I suppose I really ought to be thankful.





Here we are at Central Park - with our miserable attempt at a mass SMU jump. Kai managed to catch us all in the air though with his phone's camera so I'll have to squeeze the photo out of him soon and upload it!





And we all did so many silly things like skipping over a random bridge...



Do kungfu jumps...



Dare each other to climb into the trash bins...



Block the path by photowhoring endlessly...



Imitate statues...


And yeah well I could go on forever but you get the picture. Speaking of pictures, I quite like this one...



After that, my group split up - some went to the museums, the boys we hung out with decided to go explore Greenwich (and got immensely lost in the process) while Bel and I opted to go shopping at Manhattan Mall.

Guess who shopped too much there?



The food in New York was really good on a whole too, though rather expensive. Be prepared to see many pictures of food coming up your way in the later entries! I think our first superyumsmeal was at Lombardi's, where a mere six of us shared 3 giant pizzas. Seriously, the American portions are rather insane (especially for our puny Asian tummies) but then again I think I probably ate more than even most of the boys while I was there so maybe I shouldn't comment, hmm?





I was highly excited to catch my first glimpse of a Pinkberry store there too! For the uninformed, Pinkberry sells superyumsfrozenyoghurt - yummier than Frolic's and Yami Yoghurt even! I hope they come to Singapore sometime soon because honestly, as much as I like our local frozen yoghurt brands, after eating a Pinkberry yoghurt...things quite aren't the same anymore.



The day after our foray into Central Park, about 3/4 of the BSM group decided to go to Woodbury for some major shopping. The luxury brand selection there is amazing - and at outlet price too! Can you imagine how crazy the brandwhores went?! Some of them spent up to 3K USD in just that one day. Thank goodness I'm not all that into branded goods, if not my bank would be horribly empty now, like poor Kai who maxxed his credit card out just on the third day of our three-week-long trip, hahaha.

Okay, thou shalt not laugh at others' misfortunes. :x
