As I'm sure everyone can tell, my blog is dying, and the chances of it being revived properly anytime soon are...well, slim.

Work has been busy but nevertheless fun - love the colleagues and the environment. :) Unfortunately, after staring at the computer screen around the working clock every weekday, chances are by the time after work or the weekend rolls around, the last thing I want to do is to stare at my laptop screen. I don't even check my Facebook very regularly any longer! Or log onto MSN to chat! The only thing that constantly gets attention from me is my email. Sad huh. So much for social media and using web 2.0 to keep your life happening and in touch...maybe that will change once I switch phones. (Read: once I get over all my indecisiveness over what phone to get next).

That all being said, I will /try/ to update soon...because Ming and Grace just got married on Saturday! Will upload pictures of the wedding, the dashing groom and the beautiful bride. ;)

Also, I'll be heading to Sydney this Thursday for a week! Can't wait. I've never been to Sydney, and the last time I went to Australia was when I was 11 - oh goodness, that's more than a decade ago I just realised.

Ooh, how time flies.

As promised, let me just briefly run you all through my life in the last 1.5 months.

30 Oct 09 - It was my last day at BarterXchange. I had really mixed feelings about leaving the company because I had the most wonderful colleagues there (especially Emi and Felita!) who really brightened even the dreariest work days up by simply being around and being themselves.



The other TCs (trade consultants) bought me some random farewell presents and held a mini farewell dinner for me at some Thai place at Temasek Tower. I can't remember its name for the life of me, but the place had pretty interesting decor and the food was decent. After that it was drinks @ Harry's bar for us to close the day\



1 Nov 09 - Zee's birthday! We celebrated the whole weekend, and the lucky boy had 5 cakes this year. Brought him to Dozo for dinner - and I must say the food did live up to its excellent reviews online. We were both quite pleased, yes. :)



13-15 Nov 09 - SISF 2009 rolls around! This year, we performed on Saturday night (thank goodness), and all went pretty okay I suppose. According to the audience, it was probably our cleanest performance to date (for the pro team, at least). Good to hear, especially since we were all super nervous since the choreography was so much more technically challenging than what we normally are used to.





Do you like our costume? See what I meant by a skanky costume coming up...we had so many wardrobe mishaps during practices, but it was worth it in the end because everyone looked so hawt and sexy on stage in this. ;)

Then a month of bumming passed by...until:

15 Dec 09 - First day at my new job! Took a Management Associate position up at The Learning Lab, which is essentially a very premium private enrichment centre. No, I'm not teaching (God forbid) - in the management/operations side of things.

So far, it's been pretty good. My colleagues are generally friendly and accepting and nice, but it was quite a culture shock for me initially since the office is located at United Square, away from the crazy pace of the CBD. I suppose I've been so used to running for work all the time in Shenton Way/Raffles Place. Over here we start work at 9-11am depending on your allocated shifts, being in a shopping centre means that the crowd only really comes in after lunch. The relaxed pace and atmosphere still feels foreign to me, but I'm certain it's all a matter of getting used to.

Anyway I'm blogging from work now so unable to upload too many pictures - you can check them out on Facebook if you really want to see them!

And yes, I promise to /try/ to update more regularly...

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post - so many things have happened since then, but I suppose life got so busy that I more or less forgot all about my poor blog.

For those of you who don't know yet, I left my old job at BarterXchange at the end of October, and have been taking things slow and easy since then, while keeping an eye out for another one. In November, there was Zee's birthday celebrations, followed by lots of SISF practices and finally, SISF itself. I promise to start posting the backdated entries on all these things soon!

But first things first, let's get down to why I suddenly decided to blog again.

Doctor's incestuous relationship produced son - ADRIAN LOWE

An inner-city Melbourne doctor is expected to soon learn his professional fate for having a four-year incestuous relationship with his daughter, which produced a son.

At age 17, the doctor left his home country and moved to Australia, not knowing his then-girlfriend was pregnant. Six weeks after the baby was born, she was adopted. The doctor never met or saw his baby daughter.

Twenty years ago, the doctor returned to the country and resumed contact with his then-girlfriend, but it was not until 1991 that he met his daughter, then 25.

Within 72 hours of their meeting, the doctor said he felt ''intimacy and closeness'' and, later that year, his daughter moved to Australia and their relationship began. A son was born when the sexual relationship between the doctor and his daughter was ending, he said.

The revelations of the doctor's incestuous relationship were revealed during Family Court proceedings relating to another partner in 2006. He was subsequently charged with incest and was earlier this year sentenced to one year's jail, wholly suspended for two years.

The doctor, his daughter and their son cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Yesterday the doctor, who has been a practising GP since the 1980s, told the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal that he was remorseful for actions that he ''remains in shock about".

''I am unable to give an account of how I managed to allow that behaviour to continue,'' he said. ''[I feel] shame and remorse for the injuries I've caused and the inexcusable nature of my actions.''

The doctor, who sees between 100 and 130 patients each week, said their son, now a teenager, lived with him in Melbourne and he appeared to have coped ''better than anyone could have imagined'' - and was aware that his father was also his grandfather.

Andrew Clements, for the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria, said the doctor's actions were ''reprehensible'', constituted ''gross disregard'' for his daughter's wellbeing and that he should have been aware of the cognitive defects that could occur when a child was born in an incestuous relationship.

He said the tribunal's options included suspension or cancellation of the doctor's practising licence, which, if it did occur, should last until the end of his suspended sentence.

Phillip Priest, QC, for the doctor, said a reprimand was also available to the tribunal and that the Medical Practitioners Board did not see his actions as a risk to the community because it had twice met to discuss the doctor and he had not been deregistered.

''He doesn't raise any spectre of pedophilia,'' he said.

The tribunal also heard that both the doctor and his daughter have other children born to other partners. The tribunal reserved its decision.

How disturbing. And it really makes me wonder why the daughter isn't blamed here either. After all, if you agreed to all this at the age of 25, I don't think that the excuse of coercion and ignorance is valid any longer!

I guess it was more for me to see than for anyone else since the person submitted it under my email - so they sent me an email asking me to review my submission and confirm it. Been meaning to post this up for awhile but it keeps slipping my mind, so!

Seriously, if you wanna slam people at least go learn some English first. That's the least you can do. I'd also suggest go growing a brain and getting a life but I guess those are things that you either have from the start or you don't, and I guess I can't discriminate against those who (very unfortunately) weren't lucky enough to be born with either, so oh well!

Oh yes, and my mom takes offence at the last bit about my name. :P Her overall response was funny though, I showed it to her and she went "EH WHAT ABOUT YOUR NAME?!" followed by "oh not bad huh my daughter is famous."

Sharon dropped in last week for a short visit and I must say that Union Square suddenly seemed a lot more attractive then with her around! I swear everytime she comes back she gets better and hotter. I wish I functioned like that, too. :P But now that she's gone, tonight was rather dull - to the point that Sarah, Kelly and I decided to have a go at learning how to lead towards the end of the night to entertain ourselves!

I've decided that Kelly would probably make a fantastic female lead because her frame is awesome. She's also super fun and easy to lead around though, I have to say.

That all aside, the days are just passing one after another, after another...with nothing very much in between. For someone with absolutely nothing to do, time certainly seems to be escaping at an extremely rapid pace.

Oh, check out this cool photo that I took awhile back (ahem, stole Gavin's camera to fool around with in Amici restaurant, to be exact) - NICE RIGHT?



Okay, okay, I'll admit it now - it only looks this nice because he went to photoshop it nicely for me. Someone must've been feeling really kind and/or bored, huh.

Then again, I really ought to speak for myself too. I actually think having too much free time on my hands makes me not just an idle person but also one that is way too nosy and meddling, because I suddenly have all this time and energy to think/overthink, analyze/overanalyze, discuss/overdiscuss things that I honestly would love to figure out and resolve. Somehow, though, it seems like the more I think and the more I try to talk it over and out, the worse I'm making it all be and so it's not like I'm completely blameless either. Anyhow, I have decided as of tonight to just extract myself from the picture altogether - for the good of all (I think). After all, it's one of those scenarios where maybe less effort = better results so I guess my aim for the near future is to: i) be nicer and more tolerant, ii) learn to keep my mouth shut when appropriate, iii) just let things be and not feel compelled to meddle so much.

Boo. I can't wait to get out of Singapore already. I need a break from my break!

I feel really bad because I've been too busy recently to give anything or anything very much thought, care or consideration.

Even my poor bunny doesn't get any love anymore. :( I took him out for a run and he was more interested in playing with my clothes than with me!



Now that it's week 11, I'm approaching the last part of my life as a student, but sadly I am unable to appreciate the remaining time as much as I'd like to because week 12 is my hell project week! Arghhhh.

Meanwhile, I'll try to remind myself to update more frequently.

Ok, first an apology for the lack of updates!

Seriously, you know you're an out of sight, out of mind person when that happens to even your own blog. My blog used to be set as home page in the past when I was still using Internet Explorer, and later on, Mozilla Firefox and so I'd always be reminded of my own blog's existence and be guilted into updating once in awhile. However, I've noticed that ever since I'd switched over to Opera, I've kind of...forgotten, largely because of it's new tab + speed dial function, because it means I never get to see my home page (which come to think of it, is still my blog). Um. Terrible, isn't it?

By the way, or those of you who're still on the IE browser, it's time to change! Firefox is all well and good but I think it tends to slow down your system once your computer memory gets clunkier and all because it's such a memory eater. Time to give Opera a try if you haven't! It is actually pretty much similar to Firefox - but better! - so switching is easy (or at least, it was easy for me). I was referred to this browser by one of my computer-geek-friends-type (probably Kristjan, actually) and so I took his word that it was good and, well it is. It's super user-friendly and convenient - I particularly love the speed dial function! You can also zhng (read: modify, upgrade) your browser so that it either looks uber pretty or uber cool. For example:



Yes, that is my speed dial page. You basically click on the little "+" sign at the top next to the tabs, and that automatically opens a window with your speed dial on it. Also, the pre-installed search shortcuts really rock. To google something, you just type in "g something" into the bar you ordinarily type your urls in, and to wikipedia something, it's "w something" and so on. I'm actually not sure how many search engine shortcuts were installed into Opera but yeah well, who needs anything else besides Google and Wikipedia anyway? :P

As if as that's not enough to win me over (it caters to my laziness + vanity you see), Opera automatically remembers all the tabs of the last window you close too, so that the next time you start it up, it'll ask you whether you'd like to: i) continue from where you'd left off the last time you were browsing, ii) start a new window altogether, iii) and iv) which are two other options I forget because I never use them.

The only downside to it is it's not compatible to certain sites. Boo. So I can't access SMUVista (my school's e-learning platform) and etc, and end up having to reply on dear ole IE once again. But that does not deter me - because I still do think that the pros outweigh the disadvantages.

What can I say - I'm just an Opera girl.

And, no, I'm not being paid to advertise (I wish), so stop looking at me with that suspicious gaze already. I'm just being a fan girl. And, um, trying to be helpful, of course.

Anyhow, on a totally irrelevant note, look what I chanced upon - an old BT Campus Life article written by yours truly! About...NTU. Hurhur. That was probably the only time I ever got to visit the campus (because SPH sponsored my cabride to and fro) and it really is....very, very far. And away from civilization.

Ok, back to writing my I/O Psych essay. Wish me luck. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE EXAMS TO END.

My laptop is on the verge of breaking down now. After weathering 3 years of abuse by me, I think it's finally about to give way...and in the middle of the semester at that! How inconvenient.

Basically, the wireless adapter (PCI network controller blah blah whatever) has decided to sort of die out on me, leaving me with a terribly unstable connection at any point in time. I'm sure many of my friends have noticed me signing in and out and in and out and in and out (repeat ad infinitum) of MSN recently - and to them, I apologize for this! I know how annoying it can be (which would explain why half my MSN notifications are turned off).

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a Macbook. In fact, I'm probably 98% certain that I'm going to get one next - just the little things like compatibility issues and whether I can get used to it quickly that are worrying me (making up the last 2%). But I suppose having a boyfriend who belongs to an entire family of Apple users really does help loads since I know I'll definitely have my personal Mac consultant nearby at all times! :D

The next two weeks are going to be rather horrific. I just glanced at my organizer and seriously, I foresee lots of aching and sleep deprivation to come. School after the midterm break is never pleasant, and the Singapore Salsa Festival is approaching once again, which means that dance practice has started (oh what a foreign concept all of a sudden). My extremely lazed out body is unused to this new feeling that accompanies actually doing something remotely physically exerting, so you can imagine how much my muscles are protesting.

Okay, you know it's time to stop blogging when you start to ramble mindlessly and endlessly to yourself. Yawn!

Short hiatus from all the New York photos/updates because the weekend has simply been too filled. Working, the Olympic Games, National Day Parade, rock band with the friends, watching How I Met Your Mother, spending time with the boyfriend and catching up with sleep...I honestly need more than 24 hours in a day just to do frivolous things like that.

And the worst part is school has yet to even start! And I'm already this over in my head with things to do. Umm.

Okay, okay, so I've been really really slack and totally not keeping this place updated - I admit that!

I was working the whole of last week so I had no time to blog, and I won't be updating very much the next few days because I'm so horribly busy with dance practice everyday.

Speaking of which, Attitude's Summer Salsa Splash Party is on at Upper Club this Saturday! Sharon is bringing all her Spin City Dance teams down to put up really awesome shows (really, all her teams are amazing) so you guys should really come down to watch it. Also, I'll be performing with Crystal and Miche again, and doing another item with Jared (the reason behind my nonexistence online these days and my perpetually aching body). The party starts at 8pm at Upper Club, Chijmes, and tickets are priced at $25 at the door so you can just turn up and purchase tickets if you want to come watch and support. ;)

Also, I'm finally going to send my laptop in to the CIT at school for fixing and to reformat and all because school starts again next Monday (groan, summer term). Need to fix all the bugs before warranty runs out and before school starts and I have to fly off to New York!

But to make up for it, let me just plonk a few photos down since I've just transferred the photos from Crystal's hard disk and since I'm still waiting for everything to transfer to my external hard disk as I back my data up and prepare to send my poor baby into the laptop hospital.

Phew, finally finished reading Harry Potter - partly off the .pdf version in office since I have absolutely nothing to do here in the daytime, and partly off the real book at night. The book was rather depressing and emo and all, but ah well, it could've been worse I guess.

Hedwig died at the start of the book - the poor fluffy snow owl. :( Followed by a whole string of characters that JK Rowling'd built upon since book #1, people we've followed for 7 books to find dead at the end of it all. It was very reminiscent of when Dumbledore died in #6.

Alright, alright, no more spoilers here so no worries about it. Shall not talk about it anymore - but be ready for a chockful of surprises as you read!

Meanwhile, two more working days to the end of my internship...I really can't wait. It's not that I dislike my time here at SG, but I'd burnt out by the end of week 10. Since then, I've been just aimlessly drifting through the days, online shopping, doing whatever work that comes my way (workload's been diminishing - I think they're trying to wean themselves off having an intern around), reading Harry Potter, planning my timetable for the next semester...waiting for July to finally end and release me.

Free this Saturday with nothing much to do? Wanna shop? :P



Come down to Flea To The Bar this Saturday at SMU's Lee Kong Chian School of Business, outside Ice Cold B! My sister and I have a store there - mainly to sell clothes, accessories and basically fashion-related items, both second-hand and brand new ones available. And, of course, with both our impeccable tastes, you're bound to find something to your liking. ;) We really need to clear out wardrobe space (and earn some dough in the process, of course) so our stuff will be going off pretty cheap...do pop by to say hi/buy some things/provide moral support.

Well, well, well. I can't seem to view my last entry for some strange reason - I am pretty sure I've published the post (many times, at that) and the blogger dashboard also states that it has been published, yet it isn't showing up on my blog regardless of how many times I try to refresh my page! How absolutely annoying. I'm assuming that since somebody tagged in response to it, my current office laptop is the one that's creating all this trouble. Let's see if this one will appear later...

Speaking of my office laptop, the old one that I was using was taken back by the business development people last Friday, following which the IT department refuses to lend me one for long term as they apparently need it for some projects or whatever. Vanessa (the regional head of Communications in SGPB, aka my boss) brought her laptop for me but it was too old to support the new company network system or something equally jargonnish like that. I spent the whole of last Friday and this Monday as well as the first half of Tuesday laptopless! And obviously, I couldn't get any work done. Thank goodness Johnny was kind enough to lend me his laptop in the end, if not, I really wonder what on earth they were intending to do with an intern who is rendered essentially useless after being stripped of her poor laptop. :(

Johnny's laptop is so small and cute, though! Reminds me a lot of my old lappie (before the current Fujitsu tablet with the *%#&(^ keys that keep falling out) - very compact, light, and most importantly, portable! The only inconvenience is that the CD/DVD drive is separate (hence the light weight) but I could live with that really.

If I could turn back time, I'd have bought the small IBM that Crystal smartly chose and is using now in school. Then again, if I could turn back time, I'd have done a hell lot of things differently, so I guess that isn't very much of an issue, is it?

Ooh, and office-hour entertainment: my sister discovered this site that imports and exports Taiwan/China apparel and it seems to have some pretty nice stuff at really affordable rates, except that I really don't know if the clothes that arrive at our doorstep will end up looking exactly the same as that on the pictures. Another thing worth mentioning is its cheesy, Singaporean name - ShopLah! Still, worth a look.

Okay, back to staring at the 28 items that I want to buy from that site...need to shortlist it to like, 3-5 items.

My life is full of impossibilities! Ugh.
